Job Description



NBC Connecticut is looking for a creative and driven Social Media News Producer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a journalist at heart—passionate about storytelling and skilled at collaborating with reporters, anchors, and producers to bring our strongest content to digital audiences. This role acts as the air traffic controller between the newsroom and our social platforms, ensuring the right stories, videos, and moments are identified, shaped, and published quickly and strategically.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, understands social media strategy, and has exceptional news judgment. You should be able to spot standout video content in seconds, repackage it for maximum engagement, and distribute it across platforms with accuracy, creativity, and urgency. If you can track everything happening in the newsroom, prioritize what deserves attention online, and get compelling content in front of viewers fast—we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate daily content to highlight strong pieces ideal for social media distribution.
  • Actively participate in the daily editorial meetings to stay aligned with newsroom priorities.
  • Partner closely with the dayside Executive Producer and Director of Multiplatform Content to ensure alignment across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with our journalists to maximize content creation on multiple platforms.
  • Provide guidance to the newsroom staff, including on-air talent, to strengthen digital storytelling.
  • Pitch compelling social stories and segments that align with NBC Connecticut’s news strategy.
  • Serve as the primary resource for social media onboarding.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-deadline driven environment while maintaining high standards.
  • Develop, curate, and manage published content across various social media platforms, including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram.

Qualifications

Qualifications

:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a newsroom or similar setting.
  • 1-3 years of experience using editing software such as Adobe Premiere
  • Minimum1 year experience with social editing tools, such as CapCut and Instagram Edits 
  • 1-3 years experience in analytics and reporting social media statistics

Desired Characteristics:

  • Degree in Journalism or a specialization in multi-media
  • Knowledge of trending stories on social platforms using analytics and SEO functions
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A candidate who will play an active role in the editorial process
  • Pioneering spirit with a desire and urgency to learn emerging technologies and invest the future.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal designated worksite.
