Overview

 

The NoMad Bar in Wynwood Miami is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchaser to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring the smooth operation of our food & beverage program, managing vendor relationships, controlling costs, and maintaining the highest standards of product quality. The Purchaser will serve as the central point of contact between our operations team, vendors, and accounting partners, while also overseeing receiving, porter, and prep operations during the day.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of vendors, including kitchen suppliers, chemical providers, pool and HVAC contractors, waste management, grease removal, and all food & beverage purveyors (produce, meat, fish, dairy, dry goods, paper goods, etc.).
  • Source and secure the best available quality at the most competitive pricing for all specified products.
  • Place and track all orders for food, beverage (where appropriate), chemicals, paper goods, and operational supplies.

 

Cost & Inventory Management

  • Utilize Restaurant365 or Craftable to manage costs, monitor pricing, and maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Collect, organize, and verify invoices; monitor vendor pricing for significant fluctuations and alert leadership to notable changes.
  • Ensure all invoices are accurately entered into cost and inventory software in a timely manner.
  • Conduct and oversee monthly physical inventory counts to ensure accuracy and accountability.

 

Staff Oversight & Facility Management

  • Train, monitor, and manage the Receiver , ensuring all incoming stock is properly received, organized, and accounted for.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and organization of all storage areas, ensuring stockrooms and walk-ins are maintained to company standards each morning.
  • Collaborate with the Sous Chef team to monitor and manage the Porter team , serving as their immediate point of support.
  • Overlook and guide the Prep team in the mornings, ensuring productivity and efficiency.
  • Monitor facility conditions daily and proactively coordinate with appropriate technicians or engineers for maintenance and repairs (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, pool systems).

 

Financial & Accounting Coordination

  • Collaborate with our third-party accounting team to ensure timely payments to vendors.
  • Track outstanding invoices and resolve discrepancies with vendors or internal teams as needed.

 

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Serve as a proactive and adaptable team player, ready to step in and support operations when necessary.
  • Not expected to work the line during dinner service but should be a reliable daytime operations leader.
  • Uphold a professional appearance: non-slip shoes, slacks, and a comfortable white polo shirt (uniform standard for the position).

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in purchasing, supply chain management, or procurement within hospitality, restaurants, or hotels strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of products, quality and the pricing in the market.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in cost and inventory management systems (Restaurant365 or Craftable experience highly valued).
  • Strong negotiation skills and vendor relationship management expertise.
  • Experience overseeing staff (receivers, porters, prep teams) preferred.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
