Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Develop a hospital plan for the provision of nursing care based on patient needs and the hospital mission.
  • Review work schedules, assignments, patient classification, and supervisor reports to assess staffing requirements for quality care.
  • Recommend and implement changes in personnel and assignments as necessary.
  • Act as an administrative resource to clinical directors/coordinators.
  • Participate with the governing body, management team, medical staff, and clinical areas in developing, implementing, and evaluating the hospital's strategic plan, budgets, resource allocation, and policies.
  • Meet regularly with the administrative team to discuss objectives, staffing needs, and management issues.
  • Stay informed about nursing care and management through literature, workshops, seminars, courses, and conferences.
  • Implement an ongoing evaluation process for patient care to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and ensure the nursing process is carried out consistently for all patients.
  • Ensure the continuous availability of nursing services to patients.
  • Incorporate current research findings into policies and procedures for nursing care.

Experience you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Business Administration.
  • 5 years of progressive management experience in a hospital environment overseeing multiple complex nursing departments.
  • Preferred: Previous experience as a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and in a surgical hospital.
  • Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by law or policy.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
