Job Description
JOB OPPORTUNITY: FUTURE MICHELIN-STARRED CHEF WANTED – EQUITY PARTNER TRACK
We are a thriving, independently owned restaurant + bar in Glassboro NJ on the Rowan University campus with a loyal following, prime location, and a rock-solid foundation.
We’re not starting from zero.
We’re not looking for another line cook. We’re searching for one obsessed, young chef who wakes up thinking about flavor, texture, and the next boundary to break. Someone who lives for the grind, studies the Michelin guide like scripture, and knows exactly what it takes to earn a star—but hasn’t had the capital or the platform to make it happen yet. This is not a salary-only gig.
This is a life-changing equity partnership in an already existing operation that’s ready to explode onto the national stage.
What we bring to the table (literally):
- Fully built-out, high-volume kitchen with premium equipment.
- 80 -seat dining room + 20-seat bar
- Established supplier relationships, wine program, and front-of-house leadership in place
- Existing concept and Menu that can be tweaked or tossed out in favor of your vision
- Owner willing to step back from the kitchen and hand you the keys
- Invested capital of more than $1M
- Full liquor license that is rare and hard to get in NJ
What you bring:
- Relentless work ethic (80-hour weeks are the baseline, not the exception)
- Stage experience at Michelin-starred or World’s 50 Best restaurants
- A crystal-clear culinary vision that’s never been fully unleashed
- Leadership that inspires cooks to run through walls
- Zero ego. Zero excuses.
The Deal:
- Starting 10–15% equity (vested over 3 years)
- Path to 51% ownership and Executive Chef title within 5 years if we earn the star
- Competitive base salary + profit share from day one
- Creative control of menu, sourcing, and concept evolution
- Real estate already locked in—no landlord drama, no buildout debt
- If you are looking only at making a fast buck than this is not for you. Think of this opportunity as a long term investment
If you’ve been sous-cheffing at someone else’s dream, saving every penny, and lying awake imagining the moment the Michelin inspector walks through the door… this is your shot. We’re not promising it will be easy.
We’re promising it will be worth it. Send your résumé, a one-page manifesto on where fine dining is going in 2026–2030, and a 5-photo portfolio of your best plates to: harnek@spicysbar.com Subject line: “I was born for this. ” No phone calls. No recruiters. No “I kind of want a star someday” applications.
Only the motivated and hungry need apply.
